Birth Center
At Buffalo Hospital, expectant parents are assured of the highest level of care. The Center offers labor and delivery rooms featuring a warm, attractive setting with technology readily available to support your child's birth.
After your child is born, we move you to a fresh, private room that's quiet, homelike and restful. Skilled, compassionate nurses work hard to ensure your birth plan is followed, teach baby care/breastfeeding techniques and provide ongoing support.
For the health and safety of patients, Allina Hospitals & Clinics has placed limits on visitation to birth centers and pediatrics units.
Effective immediately, these limitations are:
- Visiting hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Visitors must sign in and be screened for influenza-like illness
- Sibling visitors must be age 5 or older
- Non-sibling visitors must be age 16 or older
- Maximum of three visitors per patient at a time
Visitors are asked to follow hand-hygiene procedures by washing hands or using the antibacterial foam provided throughout the hospital.
Exceptional nurses
We know how important the quality of care is during the birthing experience, for you and your baby's health as well as your emotional well-being. That's why we have nurses who specialize in delivery, post-partum and newborn care. They're highly trained, experienced and very attentive to your needs.
Pain management
An anesthesiologist administers and oversees your pain medication, providing you with highest level of expertise. If you're at all nervous about your upcoming delivery, just knowing an anesthesiologist will be nearby can make you feel better.
Level II nursery
The Birth Center's Level II nursery can care for babies born prematurely at 33 weeks or later. In addition, babies born earlier than 33 weeks or requiring more intensive care in a Level III nursery at birth, can be transferred back to Buffalo Hospital to take advantage of our nursery services until they can go home.
Lactation (breastfeeding)
The staff at Buffalo Hospital would like to help you in any way we can to make your breast feeding experience successful. Several of our nurses have had advanced lactation education, training and certification and are available to answer your questions and assist you with your nursing needs.
